A snag in the plan

Dear Blog - It's only Day 2 of this experiment and I realize there is potentially dangerous snag in this entire plan. What makes it so terrible? It's going to upset the balance of my weekday morning routine...

Typically, I brew enough coffee in the mornings to have a cup before I leave for work and to fill two thermoses. The snag? I can't put the thermos in the dishwasher...if I am to use it, it will have to be washed by hand, breaking one of the rules set forth on Day 1.

So, do I just brew enough coffee for one cup and leave the thermos at home, relegating myself to institutional coffee at work for the next two weeks? The thought makes me shudder. The bigger risk is what happens to the rest of my routine and my half asleep brain at 4:30 a.m. when I remove a cornerstone of the weekday ritual.

Stay tuned...

So it starts

Dear Blog - Today, the clock starts ticking. The laundry and dishes are done, groceries purchased and Craig is well on his way to Singapore. For the next two weeks, I will not cook, grocery shop, do the dishes or any laundry.

Here are the rules:
  1. Microwaving is not cooking; you're cooking if you have to run the oven or stove top.
  2. If I cannot eat what I microwave out of the same container in which it is heated, then I can't do it.
  3. I can run the dishwasher; however, anything that has to be hand washed is off limits over the next two weeks.
  4. I can only dine out two meals/per week. On my dime, that is.
My friend, Phil, tells me this is living like a guy. So, fine. That's what I'll name my blog. Do note, however, that I plan to take showers.
